More of the Same

Nothing new to report, of good or ill... mostly more of the same... talking and thinking, and thinking and talking.  The holidays are coming up, I do hope they go smoothly for the both of us.

Clouds....

It's been a long time since I've posted, since May in fact... how much has transpired since then.  My grapevine has passed :(  Most of my lucky bamboo has died too, and my Susie Vines have finished out their season *small sigh*

It is the change of seasons, Autumn coming to a close and the winter chill infecting the deepest recesses of the heart.  Dark clouds above, uneven ground below...

Much like my Love right now.  I feel as if, in time with the seasons, my dearest love has been withering away from me with every leaf that falls from the trees.  Dark clouds are always on your horizon these days, and winding windy paths present themselves for the merest of an instant before they swirl away into nothingness, rolling away just out of reach.  Happiness seen here and again, but always the winter chill infecting us, spreading a little bit by bit.

Will we ever be able to find happiness past this time in our lives?  Can you?

Grape Vine

After planting a couple sticks of grape vine from my dad's yard, and a couple rooted sticks as well, I have one plant left out of the original four that has survived. And it seems to be thriving even ^_^ There has been quite a bit of sun the last few days, but all this week there's going to be quite a bit of rain it seems. *shrugs* We'll see how it does, it's staying in my plant pot, so any excess water can drain out, and it's beneath my patio roof, so only windblown rain should reach it anyway. Time will tell... Oi, there is also a very small offshoot of another plant, I found it while digging lightly in the dirt to see any new root growth, and it has since sprouted teeny tiny leaves. I'm hoping that one will live, and sprout its own roots ^_^

Lucky Bamboo

After falling in love with a black bamboo (Phyllostachy Nigra) I wanted to see pricing (expensive) and availability (rare) of the plant for future use if ever Ace and I live south of Iowa. As it is, I can still use the plant for an indoor type of plant, and can put it in the garage (when we have one) over the winter for it to reach its dormant state.

While looking for black bamboo information, I found a site that tells me how to propagate lucky bamboo! I am going to try it immediately! I may not get to bed as early as I had thought / hoped *giggles* I always find SOMEthing to do before bed, oi! Hopefully this will work out, and roots will start growing. I would loooove to make more bamboo ^_^

Boston Ivy

Well, my first attempt at the "wet sand cutting" method failed miserably. I looked for some Boston Ivy with some roots attached to it, and finally (at day 3) I found some. I placed it in a vase of water, and after the weekend I planted it in a small pot. We'll see what happens from here...

In other greenstuffs going on, I now have a small grape tomato plant, plus a pot of herbs. They are doing well, and I'm going to try to continue this food thing... I planted up some grape vine (pics coming soon) that I hope will do well, it came from my parents' fence ^_^ They are seeded, but the grapes taste really good when they're ripe. We'll see what the summer brings ^_^

Magnolias

This week marks the start of Week 2 in my Saucer Magnolia tree propagation project. Currently no plant activity can be seen in the bags of mulch, but it isn't until the start of Week 4 that I think I can expect to see roots growing. I'm still very excited to keep tabs on my first real project, however.

I have a second project coming up, trying to force Boston Ivy to take root by cutting some "new growth" (growth that is less than a year old) and placing it in a tray of wet sand. Pictures coming soon :)

Introductions

Ace : A boy who keeps to himself, until he has something to say. 'Failure' is not in his vocabulary, and his accomplishments at work and in life attest to that. Hard as nails yet gentle to those in need, a walking contradiction is his way of life. Grown into a man before he knew it. A Marine, a husband, her best friend...

Angel : A girl who befriends the world, especially the loners. 'Unlikely' is her forte, and her friends can attest to her semi-charmed life. A child truly still at heart, though a woman she has become. Until she sees a swing set, that is. A Motard, a wife, his best friend...

|~*~|~*~|~*~|~*~|~*~|~*~|~*~|

Ace and Angel first met while she was a freshman at Iowa State University, he was a junior still in high school. They were both dragged, by their respective friends, out to a dance club for 'teen night'. She was there to have fun during Spring Break with her girlfriends, he was with his sister-friend to protect her if she needed it. Each had noticed the other upon Angel's entry into the club, though neither knew the other had noticed yet.

They dance the night away, break-dancing glow stick hottie and care-free child like innocence, lost in each others eyes and arms. The rest of that week was spent together, fixing a flat tire, visiting a park, butterflies in the heart and head. Perfect fairy-tale love they had found, meshing with one another like Legos.

Through ups and downs, here's and there's, joining the Marine Corps, graduating from ISU, deploying once more... through six years they have lasted, and 24 February 2009 documented in front of both their families and friends the love they have found and grown. Mr. and Mrs. Ace they had become, and two weeks after the wedding Ace was off to war again.

Here sits Angel, not sitting at all but keeping busy in life while waiting for the return of her love, her life, her Marine. Herein will be their journey through deployment, and on to forever. Herein..... Well, herein will be another story for Happily Ever After.
